I have been making this recipe for 35 years. It is my Mother in Laws recipe that she used for 40 odd years. I find it hard to get Bakeo brand pastry mix and have started doubting if it was just bakeo or bakeo pastry mix and have been forced to buy a different brand. There is now several different mixes like pastry mix and scone mix! This now reconfirm I need the pastry mix pack in whatever brand I can get.
Have never had a failure unlike the other family member trying to make it in a cloth! Love it and proud to use her recipe!

Bakeo Pastry Mix hasn’t been available for a long time now and the recipe I’m using for my Christmas cake & pudding is my grandmother’s from when measurements were imperial (not metric). Does anyone know what the weight of the original Bakeo Pastry mix was?

I know this is an old post, but in case I can help, I also use my Nan’s Bakeo Pastry Mix Christmas pudding recipe. I now use Lion Pastry Mix, available in Woolworths. The pudding turns out the same. I use about 3/4 of the packet and just judge when the batter looks right. The whole packet would make it very dry. I make mine in a pudding cloth.
I think the Lion Pastry Mix is also sometimes in IGA.
