Vienna Chocolate Cake

Ingredients
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 ½ cups self raising flour
  • 3 level tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
  1. Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla. Beat in egg yolks. Sift flour, salt and cocoa twice and add to the mixture with the milk. Beat egg whites stiffly and fold in. Bake in two 18 cm sandwich tins for 20 minutes in a moderate oven. Ice with mocha frosting.
Mocha Frosting
  1. Beat 1 cup icing sugar and 1 tablespoon butter with 1 dessertspoon cocoa and 1 dessertspoon of coffee essence dissolved in boiling water and a few drops of vanilla. Beat till smooth and put between and on top of cake.
