Chocolate Caramel Slice

Ingredients
Base
- 125 g butter or margarine, melted
- 250 g plain sweet biscuits
- 4 tablespoons finely chopped toasted almonds
Top
- 250 g butter or margarine
- ½ cup honey
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon gelatine
- 1 ½ cups condensed milk
- 1 packet melted choc bits
Instructions
- Crush biscuits into fine crumbs. Add almonds. Stir in melted butter until combined and press over the base of a greased tin. Chill in the fridge.
- Melt butter and honey. Add sugar, gelatine and condensed milk, beat thoroughly. Continue stirring constantly for 10 to 15 minutes. The longer you stir, the harder and chewier the caramel. Remove from heat and beat well with a wooden spoon. Pour over crust. Chill overnight until firm. Next morning cover with melted chocolate. Keep stored in fridge. Crushed nuts or coconut can be sprinkled on top.
