Ingredients
  • 250 g dripping
  • 250 g brown sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 250 g plain flour
  • 250 g breadcrumbs
  • 250 g raisins
  • 250 g currants
  • 250 g sultanas
  • 2 tablespoons treacle
  • 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 dessertspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon lemon essence
  • 1 teaspoon almond essence
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon mixed spice
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • few dates
  • pinch salt
  • 2 packets mixed nuts
  • 2 dessertspoons brandy
Instructions
  1. Beat dripping and sugar and add eggs one at a time. Add treacle. Add all sifted dry ingredients. In a separate bowl put all fruit, nuts, breadcrumbs and brandy. Then add the other mixture to this bowl and beat until smooth. Boil 5 hours or 4 hours for ½ mixture.
