Instructions
  1. Put bacon bones in a large saucepan. Half fill with water and bring to the boil. Add 1 cup split peas. They are best if you soak them in warm water for a while and boil for 1 hour or more. Add 1 chopped onion, 1 chopped carrot, 1 stick of celery chopped and pepper. No salt is needed as the bones are salty enough.
